Humanas Pflege GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run company specialising in elderly care and support, with its headquarters in Colbitz, Saxony-Anhalt. The company operates 25 residential care homes in Saxony-Anhalt, particularly in rural areas.
What sets Humanas apart is its residential care home concept, which combines age-appropriate housing, home care and day care. The residential care homes enable older people, despite their need for support, to live as independently as possible in their familiar surroundings and to participate in the social life of their local community.
Humanas employs over 600 staff. By 2021, the company was already one of the largest employers in Saxony-Anhalt and one of the largest outpatient care providers nationwide.
The care sector faces significant challenges due to demographic change, rising care needs and an increasing demand for care staff. Humanas was founded in 2006 and has thus been keeping pace with the developments and challenges in elderly care and support for 20 years.
It is precisely this combination of local care, nursing and support that makes Humanas of particular interest to resilience research. A key question here is which resources staff, teams and the organisation draw upon to remain capable of functioning in the long term amidst the changing conditions of the care sector.
